On Friday, 21 March, Herron Todd White Geelong proudly sponsored the annual River’s Gift Golf Day—an inspiring community event dedicated to raising awareness and vital funds for Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) research and prevention.

River’s Gift is Australia’s largest non-government funded SIDS charity, focused on driving impactful change through education, awareness campaigns, and cutting-edge research into the causes of SIDS. Since its founding in 2011, following the tragic passing of baby River at just 128 days old, the charity has become a beacon of hope for families affected by SIDS and a powerful advocate for safe sleep practices across the country.

HTW’s connection to River’s Gift is deeply personal. Dee Proto, from our Geelong office, is River’s grandmother and a passionate supporter of the charity. Dee’s courage and advocacy have brought River’s story into our workplace and inspired ongoing support from our team.

“Our involvement with River’s Gift is something we hold close,” said Dee. “It means a lot to know my colleagues and workplace support the cause, and that we’re helping drive awareness and fund the research needed to make a real difference.”

The golf day brought together approximately 100 players from the local Geelong business community, each contributing to a powerful day of connection and support. HTW proudly sponsored a hole on the course, with team members attending and engaging in the day’s events.

The day also featured an engaging keynote from former AFL player Glenn Manton, who spoke about personal development, resilience, and the importance of mentoring others—echoing the values of strength and support that River’s Gift represents.

This is not the first time HTW has stood behind the cause. In 2019, our teams participated in Shine Blue Day—a national initiative that marks the anniversary of River’s passing by encouraging schools and businesses to “shine blue” in support of SIDS awareness.

“Whether through a morning tea, a golf day, or wearing a blue heart, every small act helps build a bigger movement,” said Dee.

Herron Todd White is proud to continue supporting River’s Gift and their mission to create a safer future for all babies while providing much-needed support for bereaved families.
