At Herron Todd White (HTW), we know that the future of our profession depends on creating opportunities for aspiring valuers to connect, learn, and grow. That’s why we were proud to once again take part in the QUT Careers Night, an event that brings together students and professionals from across Brisbane to explore career pathways and gain insight into different industries.
Our team engaged with students eager to understand more about valuation, particularly the world of Commercial Valuations. It was encouraging to see such strong curiosity about the profession and to play a role in helping the next generation take their first steps into the industry.
Events like this are an important reminder of why career development sits at the heart of HTW’s culture. We believe that providing a place where people can thrive, learn from experts, and grow through mentoring is essential to building not only individual careers but also the strength of our industry as a whole.
Supporting Pathways to Success
HTW is committed to supporting our assistant valuers through their studies, giving them the tools, mentorship, and encouragement they need to become fully fledged valuers. This commitment is reflected in the stories of our people, many of whom began their careers as students and are now thriving professionals.
Take, for example, Mistie Underwood. Mistie began her journey with HTW at just 18 years old, and with the guidance and support of mentors across the organisation, achieved her goal of becoming a Certified Practising Valuer (CPV) by the age of 21.
Reflecting on her journey, Mistie shared:
“I could not have achieved this goal without the continued support from my colleagues within HTW. It wasn’t just one person, it was the whole network who rallied around me, whether it was mock interviews, mentoring, or simply checking in along the way. Everyone genuinely wanted me to succeed, and that’s what makes HTW such a special place to work.”
Mistie’s story is a powerful example of the collaborative and supportive environment HTW fosters. Today, she is not only a CPV but also a mentor and leader, helping students gain a better understanding of the valuations industry at events like the QUT Careers Night.
Building a Culture of Growth
At HTW, we believe career development is about more than just qualifications, it’s about creating an environment where people feel supported, valued, and encouraged to succeed. From assistant valuers to senior professionals, our culture is one where knowledge is shared, achievements are celebrated, and growth is a shared journey.
As we look to the future, HTW remains dedicated to nurturing the next generation of valuers, equipping them with the skills, confidence, and connections they need to excel. Whether through events like the QUT Careers Night or through the everyday mentoring that happens in our offices, we are proud to play a role in shaping careers and supporting our people to reach their full potential.
